It was great while it lasted

Well, this past weekend my wonderful parents took the kids for 2 nights while Tob and I headed to the great outdoors. To start our trip off we stopped by the hair salon before leaving town to get Nojah's hair cut and dealt with the BIGGEST tantrum, screaming fit I have ever seen out of a young boy. He is in a long hair defiant stage, however the hair is starting to make me CRINGE and that is all the reason to cut it, right? Needless to say after the fit in the salon, he still has long hair and is grounded for 3 weeks for the extremely bad behavior and the embarrassment he caused us in public. I don't think I have ever been so mad at him before. As my mom said when we ditched him at her house, "well, honey he does have a little bit of you in him". Great thanks for pointing that one out. Anyway It was good to get away and cool down after that episode. The first night we camped near some bike trails up in the Elkhorns and rode the trails the next day. After biking all day we backpacked into VanPatten lake and stayed the night. While we were there we watched a grazing mountain goat, as well as a bald eagle's unsuccessful dive for dinner. We were the only ones up there so it was quite peaceful. The next morning we slowly packed up camp and headed to dutch flats to do some more mountain biking before heading home. It was so wonderful to sleep in till 8:30, read a book, and have an actual conversation with Tob without interruption. And now we are back home...................

It is never fun to have a screaming child that doesn't want a hair-cut. Unfortunately at his age it is hard to hold him down and cut it anyway (that's what we do to the poor little 2 year olds!) I'm glad you got to take a break- you are always so busy, I'm sure it was needed ;)

Oh my goodness, what gorgeous pictures!!!!! It is so so so so so beautiful where you live. I still have a hard time, however, thinking that putting a giant pack on my back and hiking somewhere looks fun. The gorgeous surroundings and the part about sleeping in and reading sounds good though.

Oh my. I feel for you with the hair situation. That would be embarrassing. Stick to the grounding though. I wouldn't put up with that kind of embarrassment either! Maybe you should threaten him with having it shaved if he pulls it again. JUST KIDDING!!!

I did threaten to shave it. Luckily he let me take him in today to get it cut. Not as short as I'd like but it is his hair and I have to remember it is only hair.
