Hike up to Maxwell Lake

Yesterday we hiked into Maxwell lake! The kids did absolutely awesome. It's 4 miles into the lake with a 2500-3000 foot elevation gain. They walked and just chit chatted with us the whole way (of course wanting a break every 10 minutes or so). We had some very interesting conversations going on but it was nice to just have some one on one time to focus on them. When we got up there we played in the water a little bit, snacked, and relaxed. On the way out I don't think they even needed a break, we just kept telling them to slow down. Alexyss did fall once when she was running of course but nothing too serious like the hike up tick hill. I carried her on the really steep parts for fear we would lose her off a cliff and never see her again. This was only their second high lake experience. The other one was when they were 4&6 and a friend and I hiked them into Van Patten lake which I think is only about 2 miles into the lake. So all in all not too bad of a day! It has been proven that you can hike 8 miles with 5 and 7 year olds and enjoy yourselves! Hope everyone has had a great weekend!

Tim said to tell you that he and his family used to hike into Maxwell Lake. He said his mom even went once...she must be like me! Ha Ha. I'm glad Alexyss didn't dive off a cliff.

Sounds like you guys had fun! Cool picture by the way! I have never been there. But I also have never been to Anthony Lakes either. How sad is that? Hope you all have a fabulous week!

There are so many lakes and peaks to hike to around here. We are thinking of taking the kids to chimney or laverty lakes next. Tim, any ideas for good kid hikes?
Well Rachel, Anthony would definitely be easier to get too! At least you can drive to it. You will have to take a sunday drive with the kids or better yet just Lloyd up to anthony someday. In the fall it is absolutely beautiful up there.
Well sorry no postings. I work Mon-Wed's and Tob is gone so days are long. My cat also just brought in a live baby mouse. The kids were so excited that we had to set it free. He was fluffy and kind of cute. I don't think I could have beat it to death with a broom. Have a great day and thanks for reading my blog!!
