We found another hidden paradise tucked away in the wilderness thanks to our wonderful friends. It was clear by the lack of trail down to the falls that not many people come to enjoy this beauty. I'd like to introduce to you Goat creek falls.
I can't remember the name of these little guys but these babies were all over by the falls diving in and out of the water and were quite tame. At one point Lex picked one up.Overall it was a great 10 mile round trip hike. The kids were fantastic. We stumbled across freshly ripened huckleberries. We spent about an hour fishing under the falls and caught one fish. Andy informed me if we come back when the water level is down we will catch a lot more.
The best moment of the trip was coming home about 2.5 miles from the trailhead. The kids were ahead of us and Kevin (a 7 year old avid hunter) comes running back yelling very seriously "There's a bear, get me my knife" Sure enough I look right up above us and there was a beautiful cinnamon bear running up the hill, obviously she heard this little blond haired boy was going to get his pocket knife. :-) We aren't sure what he was going to do with it but it sure did make us giggle.
After the hike we promised the kids they could cool off in a swimming hole, and that's just what they did, they cooled off.
Then cooled off again. It was an awesome day. After we got home the kids played until dusk and then we watched 3 beautiful 4-5 point bucks still in velvet wander through the neighbors yard and field next door for about 20 minutes. After they left Tob and I tucked the kids in and took our living room furniture, set it in the lawn, and watched a lightning show over the eagle cap wilderness better then any fireworks show we've seen.
I would give this day a 10 out of 10

I love that Kevin wanted his knife! That's hilarious. And YOU are hilarious- "I give this day a 10 out of 10 on the "fun" rating scale"... which, of course, is much better than the pain rating scale. ;-)
I want to go to that waterfall! Take me! take me!
I love the part about the living room furniture...:-) What is the hike like? Would I like it?
