Reservations for 8 at the silver tip lodge

Yesterday my friend Jennifer and I hiked 6 miles into Aneroid lake with the kids. This is the only place in the Eagle Cap Wilderness (to my knowledge) that has privately owned land with privately owned cabins built in the early 1900's. There is a cool story that goes along with this place I will share later. Tob and I have snowshoed into the area in the winter time but I haven't ever been here when the lake was de-thawed and I must say it was exhilarating! While we were there we ran into the caretaker who informed us the man who owns these cabins generously rents them out for free and although they are usually booked by this time he had a lot of spots open, like uh, next weekend :-) So we jumped on the opportunity and now have reservations for 2 nights and 3 days at the silver tip lodge. Now we are just planning meals, getting our backpacking gear together and HOPING our husbands will make it back from Texas in time to join us. For now I am back to work for 3 nights and then off for a weekend in paradise!!

"a weekend in paradise"... you crack me up. It's all a matter of perspective, isn't it??? I'm sure I could wrap my head around "paradise" and accept it, but I think I'd prefer a shower and at the very least a TOILET! (Do they have a commode?) Nevertheless, ENJOY YOURSELVES!!!

To clarify, I agree: The AREA is beautiful--definitely a paradise. You'll have to sell me on the accommodations... ;)

Yes Ma'am there is an 2 conveniently located outhouses to use :-) I will sell you on the area with photos and descriptions, not the accommodations I am sure! Although, I am sure I could sell Tim on both. The brook trout are suppose to be amazing. The shower? I guess that would be the lake or the glacial run-off streams, I choose to stink :-) The surrounding mountains are majestic and the peace and quiet is to die for. NO-ONE was up there when we were there, besides the care-taker. I will be sure to post fabulous pictures when we get back. I do have a sick child now so we hope ALL is well by Friday.

It think I could handle this....I know you think I am a wuss..but I do sleep on the ground (in a tent) and have no problem using nature as an outhouse. Spit baths are not a problem and we do have our backpacking stoves. Maybe we can do a nigt in Main Eagle next month. Love you lots.
