Yesterday Lex came home from school with a little laryngitis, a dry barky cough, a fever of 101, just completely and utterly drained. So today she stayed home from school and hung out with me for the day. I was happy to have her and the kids and teachers at school were probably glad I was. We started the day with a couple hours of HGTV learning how to stage our house in case we decide to sell it anytime soon as well as looking at available $300,000 properties in Aruba. After that we made some homemade potato leek soup and started in on our latest project.
Planting HERBS.
Planting HERBS.
Tob and I thought we would start with only 3 at this time, the 3 I find myself buying fresh at the store the most frequently, which are cilantro, rosemary, and parsley.
We rummaged around and found 3 old pots in the garage and planted our herbs, keeping our fingers and toes crossed that we will see some little sprouts within a couple of weeks.
I also adopted some babies from my mom's spider plant and planted this little guy as well. I use to have a house full of lush green plants, which have died off and dwindled out the past couple years in amongst our busy over packed lifestyle and quite frankly I miss them!
After a little cooking, planting, DIY TV, and bill paying, we enjoyed some leisurely reading. It was a good afternoon and I loved having the one on one time with her, sick or not.Oh and speaking of a good day, I just paid off our car today with a beautiful thing called a tax refund! We now fully own all of our vehicles and we are one step closer to financial freedom!!

I hope your herbs grow nice and big and fast! I love potted plants! it is too bad I have no shelves or window seals where the sun shines in in our house.
I'm sorry Alexyss was sick but am glad you got some one-on-one with her. I want to plant herbs to sit in our windowsill too. Let me know if you have success with the cilantro. I've planted it outside where it grows great. Unfortunately it goes to seed super fast. I just buy it at the store cuz I can't conquer it. And envious is not a good enough word to use when hearing that you paid off your car. We just started on ours and I hate having a car payment! I also wish we could sell our house and get something smaller so we, too, could be closer to financial freedom. Unfortunately a house around the corner sold for $185,000 the other day. Not a good comparable for sure! I guess we're keeping this one for awhile...
I like your spider plant. I have a huge one at work I wish I could give you. I repotted it last year and it has sprouted babies like CRAZY!
My cilantro always goes to seed too. Down here we can buy it for 4 bunches for a $1. I guess if I were Mexican, I could figure out what to do with four bunches. I like the $300,000 houses in Aruba, but I'm holding out for the $650,000 house in Costa Rica!!!!!
Hope Alexyss is feeling better and hope she had a happy birthday. What a fun way to spend a sick day though. (I love DIY shows!)
Hope your herbs do well. I have never been brave enough to try growing them. I'm in a gardening mood though so I need to find something to plant and some where to plant it. :)
