Just 79 days toTRI and get moving

It's that time of year again to start getting out and training for the upcoming Solstice Triathlon
This will be our family's 4th year competing and can hardly wait for this full day of fun. Each year I complete the full triathlon, Tob usually joins a team (he's not a swimmer and has no intentions of getting in the cold lake) but an incredible mountain biker and strong runner and Nojah and Lex compete in a kids duathlon, which always starts the moment I am done racing. To be completely honest my only goal the past 3 years has been to get done with my race in time to watch Nojah and Lex race and so far I have met my goal every year.

This event is one of our favorites for a lot of different reasons:

1. It close to home
2. Quality time spent training and competing with good friends
3. Awesome support group, thanks to my family and friends
4. It's a day that our whole family gets to participate in.
5. It's challenging
6. Something to look forward to each year (I guess kind of like a tradition :0)
7. I LOVE GETTING DIRTY.

I was looking at my times over the past 3 years and I like that I have improved my times each year and hope to continue with the trend.

Here are my times:

(Overall) Swim Bike Run

2008
(3:55) 22:50 2:12 1:19
2009
(3:53) 22:09 2:11 1:14
2010
(3:40) 23:22 1:57 1:15

Here is my 2011 goal: Overall time of 3:30 I don't care how I do it but I would like to decrease my time in the bike and run. The swim, I just suffer through each year not having anywhere to really train so I would like to just maintain there. Oh ya and my other goal of course is to finish before my kids start their race :-)

Anyway, I thought maybe if I put it out there I would work a little harder to reach that goal.

There's not many things more rewarding to me then training for a race and completing it with my family at my side. I LOVE it and I love them for all their support! I encourage everyone to try a race of some kind this year whether it's a walk, run, triathlon, duathlon, bike race or a pie eating contest. There is nothing better then the awesome feeling and special bonds and you create with both strangers, friends, and family who are all brought together for a fun event.

I love supporting your family in the triathlon and truly look forward to it every year. I am sooo proud of all of you and revel in your achievements, vicariously, of course. However, I am starting my own kind of training. I have walked the last couple of days, and yes, you would be impressed...all by myself! Did a couple of miles last night, some up hill. I am looking forward to the good weather so I can break out my bike. I want to do the(14?) miler we did last year around your valley and I don't want to do any huffing and puffing this time! I will be working on it! Love you. Looking forward to June.

AHHHH is that all the time I have? I'm on a team this year and will be doing the bike portion. I just seriously want to finish and preferably not last.

It's so close!! I'm sure you are gonna get your PR. You have been running a lot, but you gotta get on that bike & bust a move!! Train hard:)

good luck Dawn! That is so much work. I will be sitting on my fat bum growing a baby this spring and summer, but next year I think I want to train for something again. It made it easier to plan workouts and gave me something to look forward to.
I hope you improve, although, you already do so well that will be hard!
